The International Automotive Task Force published the new standard for quality management in the automotive industry IATF 16949:2016 on 01 October 2016. This replaces the previous ISO/TS 16949:2009, which is now regarded as the globally established quality standard within the industry.
The standard shows an even closer connection with the quality standard DIN ISO 9001:2015, which is reflected among other things in the common structure according to the High Level Structure. Through a continuous improvement process, the new standard aims to increase customer satisfaction, identify and eliminate errors and risks within the supply chain and production processes, and review the effectiveness of corresponding improvement measures.
